Mt. Pleasant girls tennis swept

BLOOMFIELD - A very inexperienced Mt. Pleasant girls tennis team saw some growing pains in its season opener at Davis County on Thursday. The Panthers dropped their first match 9-0.
The Panthers won just two games on the singles slate. Melanie Olivas fell 8-1 in the No. 5 match against Davis County's Jenna Marlow, and Malena Yocum dropped the No. 6 match to Davis County's Jada Will, 8-1.
The top four Panther singles players were all swept, 8-0. Savana Walls lost to Bella Tranquillino in the No. 1 match. Maggie Fitzpatrick was downed by Avery Thopmson in the second. Gisele Fjardo fell to organ Klaus in the No. 3 match, and Moelia Elias-Sixtos fell to Maddy Warning in the No. 4 match.
The Panthers were swept 8-0 in the three doubles matches. Walls and Fitzpatrick fell to Tranquillino and Thompson in the No. 1 doubles match. Fajardo and Elias-Sixtos dropped the No. 2 doubles match to Klaus and Warning, and Olivas and Yocum fell to Madeline Barker and Leah Rudd in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Panthers are now 0-1 on the season. They will host Keokuk today (Monday) at 4:30 p.m.
