Mt. Pleasant and Fort Madison met up for both a boys and girls soccer game in Southeast Conference action on Monday. The home teams held, as Mt. Pleasant scored a 3-2 win over the Bloodhounds in the girls’ game, while the boys fell 11-2.
In the girls’ game, the Bloodhounds jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Panthers came rallying back. Mt. Pleasant scored three-straight goals, two by Elly Manning and one by Charice Auwerda to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
After halftime, Fort Madison put one more goal on the board, but the Bloodhounds ran out of time, as the Panthers hung on to get some payback after a 5-2 road loss earlier this season.
Manning finished the night with two goals. Auwerda had a goal and an assist, and Tori Wilson finished with one assist.
In net, Eli Heaton collected nine saves.
The Panther boys’ team tried to knock off the top dog in the SEC, but Mt. Pleasant couldn’t get it done in Fort Madison. The Bloodhounds led 3-0 at halftime, and poured it on with eight in the final 40 minutes.
Dylan White had both goals for the Mt. Pleasant boys. Jackson Newman had one assist. Rudy Ruiz Motta collected 12 saves.
The Panther girls moved to 9-4 with the win. The Mt. Pleasant boys now sit at 4-8.
