Mt. Pleasant girls win at Keokuk
Panther boys take 2nd; Van Buren boys 6th and girls 8th

KEOKUK — Both Mt. Pleasant and Van Buren County brought both boys and girls track teams to Keokuk’s Invitational Tuesday night. The big winner on the day was the Mt. Pleasant girls team, which won the meet with 165.5 points.
The Panther boys team took second, with a final score of 146. Van Buren County finished sixth in boys with 73 points and eighth in girls with 42.
Mt. Pleasant’s girls team had four wins on the day, two of which came in the throwing competitions. Jadan Brumbaugh continued to dominate the shot put competition, throwing 43 feet, 1 inch. Kylee Coleman took the discus throw with a hurl of 111 feet, 4½ inches.
Kenna Lemm beat out older sister Karysn for the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles. She won that race in 16.28 seconds. The Panther 4x100 team also won in 52.70 seconds.
Mt. Pleasant’s boys team had four wins. Two of those were individual track victories, as Will Davidson won the 200-meter dash in 23.31 seconds, and Bryce Wilson took the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.63 seconds.
Mt. Pleasant’s sprint medley team won in 1:40.96. Cooper Pullis had the team’s only field win, taking the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 3 inches.
Van Buren County had two wins on the day, one on the boys side and one on the girls side.
The Warriors’ shuttle hurdle team had the school’s only win on the boys side, winning in 1:08.04. Isabel Manning won the girls 800-meter run, finishing in 2:43.50.
