Mt. Pleasant heads to Clinton
Panthers look for win in second to last regular season game against River Kings

CLINTON — It hasn’t been a season that Mt. Pleasant would have liked thus far, as the Panthers are still searching for their first win with just two weeks to go.
The Panthers (0-7, 0-3) will get a good opportunity this week when they make the trek up to Clinton to battle the River Kings (1-6, 0-1) in a Class 4A District 3 matchup.
Mt. Pleasant is coming into Friday’s contest off a loss to Burlington, 41-33.
Last weeks game against the Grayhounds went down to the wire and saw the Panthers with a chance to win it in the end, but they came up just short.
Mt. Pleasant’s Jacob Richtman leads the Panthers through the air. Richtman has completed 138 passes for 1,416 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.
Zerek Venghaus is the Panther’s leading rusher, tallying 246 yards and three touchdowns on 62 carries. Payton Hagans follows with a pair of touchdowns and 163 yards on 43 carries.
Receiving wise, Wyatt Woodsmall paces the Panthers. Woodsmall has caught 36 passes for 416 yards and four touchdowns. Carter Amos follows with 39 receptions for 376 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Garrett Cook has 22 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Defensively, Bowen Davis has 43.5 tackles on the season. Payton Walker follows with 30.5 tackles. Jaden Bauer has 27.5 on the season as well.
Clinton comes into the district bout off a big loss to North Scott, 55-7.
The River Kings are led by Addison Binnie at the quarterback position. Binnie has thrown for 730, four touchdowns and six interceptions on the season.
On the ground, Binnie also leads with 140 carries for 814 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ajai Russell has 317 yards and four touchdowns on 65 carries as well.
JhiKeith McGraw has 13 receptions for 327 yards and a touchdown to lead Clinton. Collin Fullick follows with 168 yards and two touchdowns.
Tavian Bailey has accumulated 28.5 tackle son the season.
In last years meeting between these two teams, Clinton got the better of Mt. Pleasant 49-7.
Friday’s game is set to begin at 7:30 at Clinton’s own Coan Field.
