Mt. Pleasant hosts massive co-ed track meet

Both the Fairfield boys' and girls' track and field teams traveled to Mt. Pleasant Thursday for the massive CO-ED meet that featured nearly two dozen area schools.
'Overall, we were really happy with how the girls performed,” said skipper Jerrod Belzer. 'Anna Dunlap and Brynley Allison are two freshman that have been performing really well and both had great races for us again last night and we know that they'll just continue to get faster as the season goes.”
Girls 800 Sprint Medley
Fairfield finished fourth with a time of 1:59.18.
'Our medley relays were strong once again,” said girls coach Jerrod Belzer. The first anchor was senior Jill Dunlap followed by freshmen Mallory Lyon, senior Alexis Jones and freshmen Anna Dunlap.
Boys 800 Sprint Medley
The Trojan boys finished seventh with a time of 1:42.58, picking up two points. Lead was junior Carter Ferrell followed by classmate Matthew Swanson, senior Caden Jones and eleventh grader Landon Kooiker.
Boys 3200 Meter Run
Junior Bryan Wilkins finished 10th with a time of 11:10.17 and freshmen Caden Mickels was just a few steps behind in 12th with a time of 11:14.05.
Boys 4x800 Meter Relay
Diers and Rippey both had really good nights,” said boys' coach Brian Dunlap. 'They ran well in our season best 4x800, then both came back with solid efforts in the open 800. Their hard work is paying off.”
The Trojans finished second overall with the season best time of 8:51.85 with Diers as the leadoff, followed by Rippey, sophomore Alex Forrest and senior Dylan Harvey.
Girls 100 Meter Dash
Freshmen Anna Dunlap finished fifth in 13.58 with classmate Brynley Allison 13th in 14.59 and junior Allison Rebling 17th in 15.13
Boys 100 Meter Dash
Senior speedster Caden Jones was 14th with a time of 12.28 while fellow soon-to-be graduate Brittan Bowman was on his heels with a time of 12.65 for 20th.
Girls Distance Medley
'Ashley Bloomquist had a phenomenal 800 leg on the distance medley for us and helped us to a strong finish there,” said Belzer of his team's fourth place finish in a time of 4:34.16.
Dunlap was followed by Alexis Jones, then Malory Jones and Bloomquist was the anchor.
Boys Distance Medley
The Trojans finished seventh in 4:23.46 with sophomore Blake Metz followed by classmate Landen Schafer, junior Bryan Wilkins and Caden Mickels.
Girls 400 Meter Dash
Hailey Pohren-Gevock was the lone lady Trojan to run this race, finishing 10th with a time of 1:11.22.
Boys 400 Meter Dash
FHS senior Nathan Mathis crossed the line in 15th with a time of 1:02.57.
Boys 4x200 Meter Relay
Seniors Brittan Bowman and Caden Jones lead off and anchored this team, respectively, with juniors Carter Ferrell and Landon Kooiker in the middle of this seventh place finish with a time of 1:40.70.
Girls 100 Meter Hurdles
Freshman Brynley Allison and junior Allison Rebling both ran the 100 meter hurdles with Allison edging Rebling with a time of 19.12 for 11th against a time of 21.56 for 24th.
Boys 110 Meter Hurdles
Swanson and freshmen Jackson Nelson each ran a top-15 time with the junior clocking in at 19.02 for 12th and the newbie coming in 15th with a time of 21.01.
Girls 800 Meter Run
FHS freshman Mallory Lyon was eighth in 2:52.00.
Boys 800 Meter Run
Coach Dunlap said the pair of Diers and Rippey gave solid efforts after first running in the 4x800 meter relay. Diers finished fifth in 2:08.25 and Rippey was right behind in seventh with a time of 2:12.76.
Girls 200 Meter Dash
Freshmen Anna Dunlap was fourth in 28.25 and senior Alexis Jones was seventh in 29.01.
Boys 400 Meter Hurdles
Brittan Bowman was 10th with a time of 1:11.17 and freshmen Jackson Nelson was right behind in 11th in 1:15.13.
Girls 1500 Meter Run
'Ashley and Hailey both ran really well in the 1500 for us,” said Belzer of his pair that pushed the pack that featured three of the better runners in the state of Iowa.

Boys 1600 Meter Run
The quick-kicking sophomore Forrest finished eighth in 5:00.55 with his senior teammate Harvey just behind in 15th at 5:17.23.
Boys 4x100 Meter Relay
The team was led off with Ferrell, followed by Swanson, Jones and Kooiker. They finished 13th in a time of 47.99.
Girls 4x400 Meter Relay
The Trojans were fourth overall in 4:39.75 with Dunlap, Allison, Lyon and Malory Jones running in that order.
Boys 4x400 Meter Relay
Bryan Wilkins, sophomore Aiden Daugherty, Mickels and Forrest ran in that order for a ninth place finish with a time of 4:16.02.
Boys High Jump
Junior leaper Landon Kooiker was second with a jump of 6-04.00 and senior Brittan Bowman was a foot behind for 14th.
Girls Long Jump
Senior Blair Bowman flew 11'11.75” for 17th overall.
Boys Long Jump
Carter Ferrell was eighth with a jump of 17' 04.00”
Girls Discus Throw
Senior Julia Fritz, sophomore Anna Westphal and freshmen Hannah Simpson all had quality tosses with Fritz leading the pack with a sixth place finish with 99'00”. Westphal finished 10th overall with 80'05” and Simpson was 16th with 68'05”.
Boys Discus Throw
Senior Tristin Waugh had the best Trojan toss with 133'11” for fourth place. Junior Gage Hook finished 21st with 103'01” and sophomore Chris Kyle was 27th with 87'04”.
Girls Shot Put
'Olivia Roberts and Hannah Simpson threw season best marks in the shot put,” explained Belzer.
Roberts was fourth overall with 34'00.00”, Simpson was sixth with 32'00.50” and Julia Fritz was ninth with 30'05.00”.
Boys Shot Put
Waugh was 21st with a toss of 35'06.00” and freshman Tyrone Haynes was 26th with 32'05.00”.
Senior Caden Jones was 14th with a time of 12.28 in the 100 meter dash.
Senior Ashley Bloomquist ran the anchor leg of the Trojans' distance medley relay.
