Mt. Pleasant leads area at Regal Invite
Panthers 4th in Iowa City, Sigourney-Keota and WACO finish Top-10

IOWA CITY — Mt. Pleasant, Sigourney-Keota and WACO were all in town for the Iowa City Regina Regal Invite on Saturday, and each of the Union area teams finished the day in the Top-10.
Mt. Pleasant had the best day of the three squads. The Panthers scored 134 points to take fourth place. Sigourney-Keota was seventh, with 112 points, and WACO finished 10th, with 84.5.
The Panthers didn’t place any wrestlers in the Top-3, but had three athletes finish fourth place.
Levi Evans took fourth in the 106-pound bracket. Evans won two matches on the day, but fell to Lisbon’s Jack Gogel in the third place match.
Jefferson Avalos Ramirez finished fourth at 132 pounds for the Panthers. Ramirez won three matches, all by fall, before dropping the third-place match against Keith Anderson of MFL MarMac.
Ramzy Davis finished fourth in the 150-pound bracket. After winning three of his first four matches, Davis fell in a shootout against West Branch’s Keaton Gates in the third place match, getting edged out 14-11.
Sigourney-Keotas Brady Clark finished second in the 150-pound bracket. Clark won two of his three matches on the day, but fell to HLV’s Cael Weisskopf in the first place match.
SK also had a second-place finish from Owen Menke, who took the silver at 285 pounds. Menke won two of his three matches before falling to Will Howes of MFL MarMac in the first place contest.
A vast majority of WACO’s points came from three champions. The Warriors won the 106-pound bracket, the 120-pound bracket and Louden Huisenga finished first at 190 pounds.
Ian Maize won the 106-pound bracket. Maize went 3-0 on the day, including a first-place victory over Ethan Humphrey of West Branch.
Gage Samo continued his undefeated season with a 3-0 day at 120 pounds. Samo beat Lisbon’s Wesley Sadler in the first place match.
Louden Huisenga finished first at 190 pounds. Huisenga won all three of his matches, including a dominant victory in the first place match, beating West Branch’s Tate Franz by major decision.
