Mt. Pleasant looks to end slide against Keokuk
Panthers searching for third win in home stand against Chiefs

Mt. Pleasant football will be looking to get back on the winning track Friday night when it hosts the Chiefs Keokuk in a Class 3A district 4 bout.
The Panthers (2-4) are currently on a three game slide, most recently coming up short to Washington 39-28 last week.
Meanwhile, Keokuk (3-3) enters the district clash off a win over Fort Madison 60-7.
So far this season, the Panthers have thrown for just 411 yards.
Zach Newton leads the Panthers in that category with 261 yards and one touchdown. Cooper Coleman has also passed for 141 yards and a score as well.
Mt. Pleasant likes to move the ball on the ground, rushing for 756 yards through six games.
Payton Walker has rushed for 296 yards and six touchdowns. Cooper Coleman has 180 yards and two touchdowns, while Ramzy Davis has 118 yards and three touchdowns.
In the receiving department, Avin Truong has nearly half the Panthers total receiving yards. Truong has 200 yards and one score on the season. Walker follows with 77 yards on five catches.
Defensively, Walker comes in with 50.5 tackles and 10.5 tackles for a loss. Max Sloat has 28 tackles and William Birdsell 21.5.
For Keokuk, Brenton Hoard is the Chiefs main offensive threat.
Hoard has thrown for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for 445 yards and finding the end zone eight times.
Malachi Allison follows Hoard with 158 yards and two scores.
Receiving wise, Drew Campbell has caught 25 passes for 427 yards and five touchdowns. Mason Claus has 18 catches for 325 yards as well.
Claus also leads the Chiefs in tackles with 66.5. He also has 10 tackles for a loss with 3.5 sacks.
Friday’s game will kick off at 7:30 at Mt. Pleasant’s Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.
