Mt. Pleasant Middle School girls? track and field teams compete in Fairfield
FAIRFIELD ? The Mt. Pleasant seventh- and eighth-grade girls? track and field teams traveled to the Fairfield Middle School Relays on Monday, where the seventh graders placed second and the eighth graders took third.
The seventh graders won four events at the meet.

FAIRFIELD ? The Mt. Pleasant seventh- and eighth-grade girls? track and field teams traveled to the Fairfield Middle School Relays on Monday, where the seventh graders placed second and the eighth graders took third.
The seventh graders won four events at the meet.
Abbie Liechty took first in the discus with a throw of 64-11.
Jenna Ludwig won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.24, and Allison Buckert won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of :18.1.
The 4x400 relay team of Kirsten Smith, Genna Cristoforo, Catherine Prough and Buckert also took first place with a time of 5:00.36.
The eighth graders had three first-place finishes.
Carolyn Lutovsky won the discus (no distance given); Megan Shumaker took first in the long jump (no distance given); and Sidney Taylor was the first one across the line in the 200 hurdles (no time given).
Both teams had a number of second- and third-place athletes as well.
For the seventh graders: the distance medley team of Bailey Johnson, Joceleyn Steenblock, Prough and Lindsey Moeller took second place, along with the sprint medley team of Madison Woodard, Samantha Doak, Rylee Amos and Smith, and Ludwig in the 800.
In third place for the Panthers was Liechty in the shot put, Sheyanne Walter in the high jump, Ludwig in the 200, Lindsey Moeller in the 800, and two relay teams: the 4x800 team of Cristoforo, Kylie Sourwine, Sarah Moffett and Ashley Schinstock, and the 4x200 team of Johnson, Steenblock, Walter and Amos.
For the eighth graders, Kailey Peterson took second place in the high jump and in the 100 hurdles.
She was joined by Delayna Cotton in the long jump and Lutovsky in the shot put.
Taking third place for the Panthers was Mordan Fraise in the discus; Taylor in the 100-meter dash; Peterson in the 200 hurdles; and Olivia Forseen in the 800.
The 4x800 relay team of Haley Booton, Ainsley Ward, Madison McDowell and Tabbie Liechty also took third place.
