Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation hosts youth sports camps

Youth basketball league ? the youth basketball program is for boys and girls in fifth and sixth grades. It focuses on fundamentals, participation and the fun of playing basketball. Games will be played on Saturday mornings in November and December. Registration ends Oct. 16.
Panther basketball camp ? this camp, which focuses on the fundamentals of both offense and defense, is an introduction to the youth basketball league, and it runs from 6-7 p.m. on Oct. 15-Oct. 18. It is for boys and girls in third through sixth grade. The camp instructor is the Mt. Pleasant High School varsity boys? basketball coach, Paul Rundquist. Registration ends Oct. 15.
Intro to team sports ? this program, for boys and girls ages 4-6, introduces sports to participants. Children will participate in drills and activities in a non-competitive environment. The program will be on Thursdays in November from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Registration ends Oct. 31.
All of the programs listed above will take place in Cottrell Gymnasium. There is a fee to attend each program. For more information on the camps or registration, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 319-385-1475.
