Mt. Pleasant soccer hangs on against Washington
Panthers two first half goals just enough to get by Demons

WASHINGTON — Mt. Pleasant and Washington girls soccer squared off on Thursday for the final time this regular season.
The first time the two Southeast Conference squads met up, two goals is all that separated the pair with the Panthers coming out on top.
This time around, the margins were even slimmer, but the Panthers prevailed once again, 2-1.
The Panther’s Charice Auwerda did the majority of the damage. Auwerda took three shots with all three heading toward net. Two of those turned into the Panther’s pair of goals, all coming in the first half.
Washington’s lone goal came off a Mt. Pleasant own goal in the first half.
Audrey Anderson led the Demons with six shots, four of which were on target.
Washington out shot Mt. Pleasant 18-12 and won the target battle, 10-3, but the Panther’s Eli Heaton was outstanding in goal. Heaton tallied 10 saves in the win.
For the Demons, Aleigha Medley secured six saves.
With the win, Mt. Pleasant improves to 5-2 and 5-1 in SEC play. . Washington drops to 2-7 and 1-5 in conference action.
