Mt. Pleasant softball drops SEC road games
Panthers can’t solve Fort Madison offense

FORT MADISON — Mt. Pleasant couldn’t contain the Fort Madison offense in a Southeast Conference road doubleheader. The Bloodhounds went off for double digits in both games, beating the Panthers 14-4(4) and 13-1(4).
Fort Madison scored the first 11 runs in Game 1. Mt. Pleasant cut the deficit to seven with a four-run fourth, but Fort Madison added three in the bottom half of the fourth and held the Panthers scoreless in the fifth.
Eva Rounceville went 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the loss. Bethany Drury went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and also took the loss on the mound, giving up 11 runs (six earned) over 2⅔ innings.
Mt. Pleasant led 1-0 after the top of the first in Game 2 when Grace Kelley knocked in Savana Walls on a hard grounder. Fort Madison responded by scoring the next 13 runs.
The Panthers had just five hits in Game 2. Savana Walls was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles. Madison Helling took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, giving up 11 runs (eight earned) on eight hits and three walks.
