BLOOMFIELD - The Mt. Pleasant softball team lost a couple of nail-biters at Davis County on Wednesday night. The Mustangs beat the Panthers 7-5 in Game 1 and 4-3 in Game 2.
The Panthers tried to rally back from six runs down after allowing a six-run second inning in Game 1. The Panthers cut the lead in half with a three-run fifth.
After a Davis County insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, the Panthers scored two in the seventh, but couldn't quite battle back enough to even the score.
Mt. Pleasant held two separate leads in Game 2. The Panthers scored one run in the first inning, and responded to a two-run Mustang second with two of their own in the third to grab a 3-2 advantage.
After three scoreless at-bats, Davis County scored two in the sixth to retake the lead. Mt. Pleasant was shut out in the seventh, and went home with two losses.
Before the loss, Mt. Pleasant had won two of their last three games. The Panthers are now 4-14 overall and will host Wilton in a doubleheader tonight (Friday).
