Mt. Pleasant softball ends week with three losses
Panthers fall to Fort Madison, Iowa City West and Independence

It was a rough end to the week for Mt. Pleasant Panther softball.
The Panthers suffered a Southeast Conference loss to Fort Madison in the two’s final meeting of the season on Thursday, 9-0. On Saturday they were defeated in a pair of games, first to Iowa City West 11-4 and then Independence 12-0.
Against Fort Madison, the Panthers faced just a 3-0 deficit after three innings of action, but they could never get the runs.
After a scoreless sixth, Fort Madison tacked on six additional runs in the fifth to seal it.
Linzy Striegel led the Panthers with two hits. Macy Jones and Abigail Shelangoski each finished with one hit.
Things were looking good against Iowa City West early on Saturday.
The Panthers scored four run in the top of the first inning. An Emma Starr triple scored three runs and Lila Cook added another RBI in the inning.
Iowa City West answered right back. The Trojans went on to score five runs in the bottom of the first and they would never trail after that.
The Trojans added two more in the second and after three shutout innings, they scored four more in the final two innings.
Emma Starr, Keagyn Coleman, Chaley Cook, Macy Jones and Izzy Sloat all had one hit. Starr finished with three RBIs and Lila Cook one.
Against Independence a flurry of early runs did the Panthers in.
After a scoreless first frame, the Mustangs scored all 12 runs in the next three innings, scoring four in the second, two in the third and six in the fourth.
Keagyn Coleman and Abigail Shelangoski led the Panthers with two hits. Macy Jones finished with one hit as well.
