Mt. Pleasant softball team swept at No. 3 Albia

ALBIA - The Mt. Pleasant softball team had its hands full on Thursday night in Albia, taking on the No. 3 team in Class 3A. The Blue Demons swept the Panthers, winning 11-1 and 4-0.

Albia jumped on the Panthers early in game one. The Blue Demons scored four runs in the first inning, six in the second and one in the third to take an 11-1 advantage after three. Mt. Pleasant put up one run in the fourth but Albia hung on for a mercy rule victory.

The Mt. Pleasant offense continued to struggle in game two, although the defensive side of the ball was better. Albia scored two runs in the first inning and one each in the third and fourth to complete the sweep.

Mt. Pleasant fell to 1-2 with the loss. They've got a busy weekend ahead of them, playing in the Louisa-Muscatine tournament on Saturday, May 25.
