MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant boys basketball is still searching for it’s first win of the season after a Southeast Conference loss to Keokuk on Friday.
The Panthers were defeated in the conference matchup 59-30.
Mt. Pleasant was in the game early and despite scoring just three points in the first quarter the Panthers faced just a six point deficit after one period, 9-3.
However, that was the last time the Chiefs scored less 10 the rest of the way. On the contrary, Mt. Pleasant never scored more than 10 until the fourth.
Keokuk outscored Mt. Pleasant 16-9 in the second to make it 25-12 at the half. The Chiefs only extended their lead the rest of the way.
In the second half, the Chiefs scored 17 a piece in the third and fourth while holding the Panthers to just 18 total points through that span.
Heading into the fourth, Keokuk held a 42-20 lead and Mt. Pleasant could never get back into it.
Ryan Helling led the Panthers with 11 points in the loss.
Mt. Pleasant now sits at 0-7 on the season and 0-4 in Southeast Conference play.
The Panthers will look for their first win when they take on New London (0-8) on Monday night at home.
