Mt. Pleasant sweeps Brookhart-Crew Relays

FAIRFIELD — All three of the Union area big schools were at Fairfield High School on Monday as the Trojans hosted the Brookhart-Crew Relays. It was visiting Mt. Pleasant who had the best night, winning both the boys and girls championships.
The Panther girls won by just 18 points, scoring 157 on the day. Fairfield finished third, with 135, and Washington was fourth, with 63.
The Mt. Pleasant boys scored 117, beating out second-place Washington, who scored 78. Fairfield scored 76, for fourth.
The Panther girls won five events on the day, three of which came in the field. Karsyn Lamm won the long jump, Jadan Brumbaugh won the shot put, and Grace Kelley took the discus.
Mt. Pleasant also saw victories from Kenna Lamm in the 100-meter dash, and the 4x100 team of Bailey Jalas, Karsyn Lamm, Josie Gilmore and Kenna Lamm.
Fairfield won eight events on the girls side, including four relays. The 4x400 team of Mallory Lyon, Kelsey Pacha, Anna Dunlap and Maddie Jones won. The sprint medley team of Coty Engle, Maya Lane, Kiya Robertson and Lyon finished first as well.
Fairfield’s distance medley team of Engle, Savannah Hollander, Addison Ferrel and Malena Bloomquist took first, as did the shuttle hurdle team of Dunlap, Lane, Brynley Allison and Pacha.
Winning individually for the Trojans were Dunlap in the 200-meter dash, Lyon in the 400-meter dash, and Carley Seeley in the 3000.
Washington did not win any events on the girls side.
The Mt. Pleasant boys won four events en route to a team victory. Ben Carthey took the 3200. Bryce Wilson won the 110-meter high hurdles. Cooper Pullis took the shot put, and the shuttle hurdle team of Mason Mills, Will Davidson, Morgan Van Nyius and Wilson brought home the team’s lone relay win.
Much like the Fairfield girls, the Trojan boys won the most events, taking five.
The Fairfield boys won three relays. The 4x100 team of Conner Lyons, Landen Schafer, River Patterson and Aidon Lyons won, as did the 4x800 squad of Gavin Van Veen, Alex Forrest, Kaden Mickels and Kevin Kretz, as well as the distance medley team of Schafer, Patterson, Ryan Higgins and Van Veen.
Aidon Lyons won the 100-meter dash for the Trojans. Kretz took the 400-meter dash.
The Washington boys won five events. Elijah Morris took down the 200-meter dash. Austin Rebling won the high jump. Reece Mayer won the discus. Lance Sobaski took the 800, and the sprint medley team of Evan Miller, Wyatt Stout, Elijah Morris and Sobaski emerged victorious.

BOYS TEAM SCORES: 1. Mt. Pleasant 117; 2. Washington 78; 3. Fort Madison 77; 4. Fairfield 76; 5. Davis County 53.
