Panther boys falls at home, girls on the road to Bulldogs

Both the Mt. Pleasant boys and girls basketball teams suffered losses on Monday night in matchups with Ottumwa.
The Panthers boys were defeated at home 58-42, while the girls fell 49-14.
On the boys’ side, the Panthers started off slow, scoring just five points through the opening eight minutes.
Ottumwa used that offensive struggled to build a 15-5 lead after one quarter.
The Panthers continued to battle but failed to gain any ground in the second as well as the Bulldogs led 25-14 at the break.
However, things shifted in the second half. The Panthers found their rhythm and had a chance to take the lead.
In the third period, Mt. Pleasant outscored Ottumwa 19-14 to make it 39-33.
However, despite pulling the game within one possession, the Bulldogs finished the fourth quarter strong.
In all, Ottumwa outscored Mt. Pleasant 19-9 in the fourth.
The Panther boys and girls were also in action on Tuesday night in West Burlington. Both suffered losses in that doubleheader as well.
The girls lost 42-34 and the boys 76-65.
