Mt. Pleasant takes 2nd at Oskaloosa boys golf invitational
Washington finishes the day in 8th, Fairfield takes 9th

The Mt. Pleasant boys golf team put two in the top six in Tuesday’s Oskaloosa Invitational. That allowed the Panthers to take second out of a 15-team field with a final shot total of 334,
All three big schools were in Oskaloosa for the meet. Washington came in eighth, after shooting 358, and Fairfield took ninth, shooting 360.
Brevin Wilson had a big day for the Panthers, earning runner-up honors after shooting a 77. Reece Kempker was close behind his teammate, shooting an 81.
Mt. Pleasant placed three players inside the top 15. Nick Matheny tied for 13th overall, shooting an 84.
Reece Coffman shot a 92 to become Mt. Pleasant’s fourth scorer. Ian Hake shot 93, and Nate Dismang finished the day at 63.
Washington was led by the duo of Roman Roth and Isaac Vetter, who both tied for 20th with a final stroke total of 87.
The next Demon on the board was Grant Sobaski, who shot 90. Teague Mayer finished at 94, and Luke Beenblossom ended at 95. Washington played with just five players.
Fairfield’s Max Weaton had the second-best night of any Union area golfer. Weaton finished 12th overall with a score of 83.
The Trojans received a boost from Sam Weaton, who was the second Fairfield golfer below 360, shooting an 88. Jeremy Crile ended the day at 94. Nate Smithburg and Brad Smithburg each shot 95, and Evan Haines ended at 100.
