Mt. Pleasant takes third, Pekin fourth at MP tournament

Mt. Pleasant - The Panthers met the Panthers on Saturday night when both Mt. Pleasant and Pekin met in Mt. Pleasant's home tournament. The two teams also met with stiff competition, and ended up taking third and fourth respectively.
Mt. Pleasant went 1-2 on the night, beating Pekin in three sets but getting swept by Central Lee and Notre Dame. Pekin took three losses to go out 0-3.
The showdown between the two Panther squads was a good one. The two teams fought back and forth before Mt. Pleasant eventually prevailed 25-9, 23-25, 15-9.
Mt. Pleasant followed that match with a pair of losses against a couple of Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division teams. Notre Dame upended Mt. Pleasant 25-15 and 15-13, and Central Lee beat them 25-9 and 25-13.
Pekin had similar fate against the Hawks and Nikes. Central Lee topped Pekin 25-7 and 25-6, and Notre Dame ran away with 25-5 and 25-11 victories.
Notre Dame finished first in the tournament by going 3-0. The Nikes didn't lose a set all night, parlaying sweeps against Mt. Pleasant and Pekin with a 25-22, 25-16 takedown of Central Lee.
