Mt. Pleasant boys and girls tennis had a tough go on Monday against Burlington. Both Panther squads were defeated by the Grayhounds, with the boys narrowly falling 5-4 and the girls 9-0.
The Panther and Grayhound boys were dead even after the singles matches, but Burlington won two doubles matches to close it out.
Max Heater (8-6), Dane Cook (8-3) and Lou Schimmelpfennig (9-8) (8-6) were the Panthers’ singles winners.
Sawyer Fulton (8-6), Elijah Rynders (9-8) (7-5) and Beckham Prough (8-9) (7-4) were defeated.
The Panthers’ lone doubles win came from Cook/Heater, who won 8-1.
In doubles, Fulton/Schimmelpfennig lost 8-6 and Lathan Novak-Watson/Prough were bested 8-4.
With the loss, the boys move to 6-3 on the season. The Panther girls drop to 3-8.
