Pioneers take five matches from Panthers

Mt. Pleasant had a tough day on the tennis court Thursday, falling to Maharishi 5-4.
The Panthers stole two singles’ matches from the Pioneers but couldn’t find another victory. Mt. Pleasant did get two additional points after a pair of forfeits from the Pioneers.
Maharishi got wins from Ria Altynska-Ross, Aparajita Kalra and Joyce (Jiusi) Wang.
Altynska-Ross defeated Mt. Pleasant’s Bethany Drury 8-0, Kalra downed Audrey Richmond 8-5 and Wang topped Halaina Crane 8-4.
Mt. Pleasant’s Zoey Carlsen picked up a 8-2 win over Kathy Tang and the Panther’s Lila Cook defeated Sohani Singh 8-0.
In doubles, Altynska-Ross and Wang got the better of Drury and Richmond 8-0. In the two seeded match, Kalra and Singh were winners over Crane and Carlsen 8-4.
Mt. Pleasant drops to 0-3 with the loss, while Maharishi moves to 1-1.
