BURLINGTON -- Mt. Pleasant girls tennis secured its first victory of the season on Monday night with a victory over Notre Dame.
The Panthers defeated the Nikes 5-4 in the clash.
Bethany Drury, Lila Cook and Hannah Villaplaza all notched wins for the Panthers.
Drury defeated Notre Dame’s Micah Svoboda 8-4. Cook downed Lauren Allen 8-5 and Villaplaza was a winner over Taryn Snodgrass 8-6.
Audrey Richmond and Halaina Crane fell in their singles matches 8-2 and 8-6 respectively.
In doubles, the Nikes were winners in the No. 1 matchup, but Crane and Zoey Carlsen were 8-3 winners in doubles. Cook and Villaplaza picked up a huge win as well, taking the No. 3 doubles match 8-6.
With the win, Mt. Pleasant moves to 1-5 on the season. The Panthers will be back in action on Thursday on the road at Keokuk.
