Mt. Pleasant tennis sees victory and defeat
Panther boys win, girls fall against Keokuk

Both the Mt. Pleasant boys and girls tennis teams were in action Thursday evening against the Chiefs of Keokuk.
The boys grabbed a flawless win on the road against Keokuk, 9-0, while the girls were bested at home, 7-2.
On the boys side, Mt. Pleasant gave up only one set in the contest.
Owen Vansickel battle hard in the No. 1 singles match, coming away with a 2-1 victory after three sets, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 1-0 (10-6).
Jake Ensminger won his No. 2 sets 6-1 and 6-0. In the No. 3 match, Levi Graber took care of business winning 6-3 and 6-0.
Tim Cam followed with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory. Elliot Cook defeated the opposition 6-0 in both sets and Lou Schimmelpfennig was a winner by forfeit.
In the doubles matches, Vansickel and Ensminger were winners in each of their two sets 6-4 and 6-0.
Graber and Cam picked up another win for the Panthers with 6-1 and 6-4 victories in the No. 2 doubles game.
The Panthers were winners in the No. 3 match as Cook and Schimmelpfennig took the forfeit.
For the Mt. Pleasant girls, each of its two wins came in the No. 1 singles and doubles matches.
Mt. Pleasant’s Savana Walls was the sole winner in the singles matches. Walls won her one set match 8-2.
Melanie Olivas was defeated in the No. 2 match 8-3.
Gisele Fajardo, Malena Yocum, Eliana Situmeang and Victoria Smith all fell 8-4 in their single set.
In doubles, Walls and Olivas triumphed 8-1 in the No. 1 match. Fajardo and Yocum fell short 8-5 in the No. 2 position. Situmeang and Smith were bested 8-1 in the third and final doubles match.
The boys improve to 4-1 on the season and will host Fort Madison (1-3) in their next competition.
The girls are still in search of their first win, 0-6, and will travel to Burlington Notre Dame for a matchup with the Nikes.
