Mt. Pleasant tennis takes on Burlington
Panther boys grab win over Grayhounds, girls come up short

The Mt. Pleasant tennis teams were in action last Thursday as the Panther girls played host to the Grayhounds of Burlington and the boys were on the road at Burlington.
For the Mt. Pleasant boys, it was yet another win on the season. The Panthers were winners 8-1 in the competition. The victory marked their fifth straight.
On the girls’ side of things, Mt. Pleasant fell to Burlington 1-8. They are still looking for their first win.
Th Panther boys gave up just one set to the Grayhounds.
Owen Vansickel was a winner in both of his matches against Hunter Ford 6-2 and 6-3.
Mt. Pleasant’s Jake Ensminger battled hard, but came up short after a trio of sets 5-7, 7-6 and 14-12 to Carson Ziegler.
Elliot Cook dominated in the No. 3 match 6-3 and 6-1 over Shaye Stringer of Burlington.
Phoenix Watson was a winner as well for the Panthers, 6-0 and 6-1. Watson defeated Jacob Widmer in the match.
In the No. 5 match, the Panther’s Tim Cam was the victor 6-2 and 6-4 over Thomas Fell.
Gavin Ross grabbed a win for Mt. Pleasant as well in the No. 6 match. Ross topped William Woodard of Burlington 6-0 and 6-2.
In doubles, the duo of Ensminger and Cook defeated Ford and Ziegler 8-5.
Vansickel and Watson bested Fell and Stringer 8-3.
Finally, Cam and Ross won 8-5 over Woodard and Widmer.
The Panther boys improve to 5-0 on the season.
For the girls, the Panther’s lone winner was Bethany Drury in the No. 5 match. Drury defeated Maddy Taeger 8-6.
Eliana Situmeang was topped by Burlington’s Emily Mosley 8-1.
Mary Kate Peterson was defeated 8-1 by Macy McGinity.
In the No. 3 contest, Eva Rounceville fell to Annalise Buxton 8-1.
Victoria Smith was topped in her No. 4 match 8-2 to Hannah Wegmann.
Audrey Richmond was defeated in the No. 6 match by Burlington’s Lorelei Weaver 8-1.
In doubles, Situmeang and Rounceville were bested by Mosley and McGinity 8-2.
Peterson and Smith fell to Buxton and Wegmann 8-0.
Drury and Richmond came up just short to Taeger and Krow 9-8 (7-3).
The Panthers drop to 0-5 on the season with the loss.
