Girls’ team leads the way for Panthers in Pella

PELLA — The Mt. Pleasant track and field teams were in Pella on Thursday for the annual Tulip Time Relays. The Panthers finished Top-5 in both standings, as the girls took second, and the boys finished fifth.
The girls scored 150 points to take second at the meet. Pella won with 221.50 points. The boys scored 94 points, four spots back of the Pella boys’ team, which won with 208.
The Panther girls won five events on the day, two coming from Abby Blint. The senior showed off her versatility, winning the 3000-meter run in 11 minutes, 33.23 seconds, and edging Pella’s Meridith Rowe at the line in the 400-meter hurdles, for a final time of 1:11.05.
Kenna Lamm on the 100-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 16.24 seconds. Alyssa Dascher picked up a win in the shot put, throwing it 34 feet, 9 inches.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had one relay win. The sprint medley squad of Bailey Jalas, Rellana Van Dueren, Elsie Lange and Andi Scott won in 1:57.34.
The Panther boys’ team had two wins on the day. Avin Truong lept 21 feet, 1 inch to win the high jump, and the sprint medley team of Colton Hutson, Dylon Hagans, Jacob Ricthman and Gabe Feldmann took first, in 1:39.17.
