Mt. Pleasant track sweeps in Fort Madison
Panthers win both team races, boys win 9 events

FORT MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant track and field teams got to flex their muscles in Keokuk’s home meet, which was held in Fort Madison on Tuesday.
The Panther boys scored 173 points, beating Burlington by over 55 points. The Mt. Pleasant girls scored 189, outdueling Fort Madison by 85.
The Panther boys had nine winners on the day, including three victories for Will Davidson in the sprints and hurdles.
Davidson won the 100-meter dash in 11.07 seconds. He took the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.10 seconds, and the 400-meter hurdles in 55.38 seconds.
Ben Carthey had two wins on the day for the Panther boys. Carthey won the 1600 in 4:53.12, beating out teammate Jude Dykstra, who finished right behind Carthey, in 4:57.42.
Carthey also won the 3200, crossing the tape in 10:26.42.
The 4X400 team of Gabe Feldmann, Isaac Rynders, Tyler Johnson and Mason Sloat 3:44.41. The distance medley squad of J.C. Sitar, Payson Coleman, Carthey and Jacob Richtman took first, in 3:56.41.
Avin Truong had a huge performance in the high jump, leaping 6 foot, 3 inches. That put him Top-10 in school history, at No. 9.
In the throws, Isaac Jerrel picked up a win with a shot put hurl of 51 feet, 10 inches.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had seven winners on the way, including four in individual events.
Andi Scott won the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 1:02.04. Rellana Van Deuren got it done in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 1:14.91.
In the 800, the Panthers went one-two, as Alexis SWagner took first, in 2:40.93, and Aliya Graber finished right behind her, in 2:40.95.
Mt. Pleasant had one winner in the field events, as Ava English won the shot put, throwing it 33 feet, 10.5 inches.
Mt. Pleasant’s 4X400 team of Kynlee White, Mica Carter, Abby Carthey and Elsie Lange took first. They crossed the finish line in 4:27.06. The sprint medley team of Olivia McCormcik, Tristian Shull, Mica Carter and Courtney Raub won, in 2:00.30, and the shuttle hurdle squad of Allie Westercamp, Meadow Carter, Van Deuren and White won, in 1:15.37.
