Panthers swept by hosting Muskies, fall to SEC foe

MUSCATINE — The 2022 Mt. Pleasant volleyball season got underway on Monday as the Panthers faced off with Muscatine and Burlington at the Muscatine tournament.
The Panthers had a tough time with the hosting Muskies. Muscatine won both sets in the opener, defeating Mt. Pleasant 25-14 and 25-10.
Mt. Pleasant took Game 1 from Burlington, but the Grayhounds were able to battle back, toppling the Panthers 23-25, 25-15, 15-9.
Burlington’s win over Mt. Pleasant snapped a five-game Panther winning streak in the series.
Mt. Pleasant (0-2) will play at the Ottumwa tournament on Thursday night. The Panthers will then head to Grinnell for another tournament, on Saturday.
