Mt. Pleasant volleyball competes in Wilton tournament

Mt. Pleasant volleyball hit the road over the weekend, competing in the Wilton Tournament.

Six schools took part in the Saturday event, which included the Panthers, Prince of Peace, host Wilton, Burlington, Mediapolis and Highland.

The Panthers (4-9) picked up two wins in five matches on the day.

Mt. Pleasant’s pair of wins came against Highland and Prince of Peace. The Panthers won both of those matches in a 2-0 sweep.

The Panthers defeated the Huskies 21-16 and 21-10. Against Prince of Peace, Mt. Pleasant was victorious 21-16 and 21-13.

Meanwhile, all three losses were sweeps as well.

The host No. 15 Beavers downed the Panthers 21-9 and 21-12. Against Mediapolis, Mt. Pleasant fell 21-8 and 21-15. Finally, against Southeast Conference rival Burlington, the Panthers were defeated 21-19 and 21-10.

The Panthers will get another shot at Burlington in their next match. They will travel to take on the Grayhounds on Tuesday.
