BURLINGTON — Things were looking peachy through one set in Mt. Pleasant’s Southeast Conference road match at Burlington on Tuesday night, but things soon turned sour in a four-set loss.
After winning the opener 25-17, Mt. Pleasant fall three-straight times. Burlington evened the series up with a 25-20 win in the second set, and the Grayhounds took the next two sets 25-17 and 25-17.
It was the second time the Grayhounds had gotten the Panthers this season. Burlington nipped the Panthers 23-25, 25-15, 15-9 in a tournament last month.
Mt. Pleasant is now 2-10 overall to go along with an 0-2 SEC record. The Panthers are tied with Fort Madison at the bottom of the conference after two games. Keokuk and Fairfield are the only two unbeatens.
Mt. Pleasant will host Washington (4-11, 1-1) next Tuesday.
