Mt. Pleasant volleyball goes 1-2 over weekend
Thursday volleyball roundup: Panthers beat Ottumwa for only victory

OTTUMWA — The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team was in Ottumwa for their first road action of the season. The Panthers went 1-1, falling to Davis County in two sets, but bouncing back to defeat Ottumwa in three.
The Panther started the day with two close sets against the Mustangs. Davis County pulled out sets 21-17 and 21-19.
Mt. Pleasant lost the first set against Ottumwa, dropping it 21-13. The Panthers rallied back to win the next two sets, 21-18 and 15-8.
Kenna Lamm led Mt. Pleasant in kills on the night. Ralyn Seberg led in assists, and Regan Seberg led in digs.
Winfield-Mount Union cramps Keokuk
WINFIELD — Winfield-Mount Union started the season off right, beating Keokuk in four sets. The Wolves won 25-18, 25-16, 16-25, 25-15.
Bradie Buffington had a big night for the Wolves, leading the team with 14 kills. Melina Oepping had eight kills. Keely Malone dished out 19 assists. Keetyn Townsley had 31 digs, and the duo of Malone and Aurey Meeker each had three aces.
Highland loses wild one
DANVILLE — Highland’s road showdown may have been the closest game they’ll play all year. The Huskies lost a five-set thriller to Danville.
The two teams traded punches all match long. Highland won the opener 27-25, and Danville matched that with its own 27-25 win.
Highland went up 2-1 with a 25-20 win in the third set, but Danville took the next two, winning 25-21 and 15-9 to for the match.
