KEOKUK — In recent years, Mt. Pleasant has had Keokuk’s number on the volleyball court.
The Panthers had won five straight over the Chiefs coming into their Southeast Conference meeting on Tuesday.
Mt. Pleasant kept to the script as it picked up win number six in a row with a 3-1 victory, 25-23, 26-24, 18-25, 25-13.
Mt. Pleasant and Keokuk played a thriller through three sets, but the Panthers were able to get two of the three to give themselves at least a stable lead heading into the fourth.
After the Chiefs nipped the Panthers in the third, Mt. Pleasant found the wave and rode it to a dominant fourth-set victory.
After losses to Dallas Center-Grimes and Washington at the Grinnell Tournament, the win ends a two-game slide for the Panthers.
The Panthers improve to 3-6 on the season.
They will look to keep the momentum going into Thursday as they will head to Albia for a matchup with Blue Demons (5-2).
