Mt. Pleasant, Washington compete in track scrimmage

MT. PLEASANT - A handful of Southeast Iowa teams gathered at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex on Tuesday for a preseason track and field scrimmage ahead of the outdoor season, which begins next week. Mt. Pleasant hosted Washington, Burlington and West Burlington for a friendly day at the track.
The four schools competed in a handful events, not quite a full outside meet. Mt. Pleasant had six wins on the day, and Washington had four.
The Mt. Pleasant boys had three wins on the day, two on the track and one on the field. Isaiah Albright took first in the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 57.24 seconds. Will Davidson won the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 9.55 seconds. In the discus throw, Cooper Pullis dominated with a throw of 49 feet, six-and-a-half inches.
The Washington boys had three winners as well, all coming in the track events. Jacob Miller won the 100-meter dash, kin 12.11 seconds. Ethan Patterson took the 200-meter dash at 24.10 seconds, and Lance Sobaski cruised to victory in the 800-meter dash, winning in 2:07.21.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had a trifecta of victories. Karsyn Lamm won the 60-meter hurdles, in 9.72 seconds. Jaden Brumbaugh won the shot put with a hurl of 39.06.25, and Grace Kelley won the discus with a throw of 105 feet even.
Washington had one win on the girls' side. Grace Voss made it a Demon sweep in the 800-meter run, winning the girls 800 in 2:42.70.
