Mt. Pleasant, Washington, Mid-Prairie all have winners in West Liberty girls wrestling tournament

WEST LIBERTY — Three area teams traveled to West Liberty for a girls wrestling tournament on Monday. Mt. Pleasant’s Ella McNamee, Washington’s Teegan Sulentich and Mid-Prairie’s Bronwyn Brenneman all won their weight class.
McNamee had two pins on the day at the 99-107 weight class. She defeated Solon’s Gretchen Marcy and Mid-Prairie’s Gabi Robertson, both in the second period.
Sulentich won the 168-180 weight class, collecting a couple of pins along the way. She defeated North Scott’s Abby Allen in the second period and Mid-Prairie’s Ali Bolanos in the first.
Brenneman had to win three matches to take the 132-137 weight class. After beating Solon’s Addison Burden by decision in the first round, Brenneman secured two pins, one over Ava Morrison of West Liberty, and one over Vivian Peterson of North Scott.
Mid-Prairie had six runners up on the day. Along with Robertson and Bolanos, Golden Hawks Madison Kelly, Ellie Brenneman, Grace Conway and Ashlee Farrier all took second.
Also taking second on the day was Mt. Pleasant’s Abby Blint.
