Panthers looking to bounce back, Demons hope to make it second straight win
MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant and Washington are set to do battle on Friday night as the Panthers host the Demons for their homecoming.
Washington (4-1) will be looking for its second straight victory and fifth win of the season, while Mt. Pleasant (2-3) will look to get back in the win column after a pair of losses, most recently last week to No. 5 Mount Vernon, 59-0.
The Demons enter off a dominant win over Keokuk 35-0.
Currently, Logan McDole lead the Demons with 360 passing yards and five touchdowns without a single turnover. McDole has completed 67.3% of his passes.
On the ground, Kael Williams has rushed for 388 yards and five scores. He’s averaging 5.2 yards per carry. McDole follows with 181 yards and three touchdowns.
Caden Greiner also has 84 yards on the ground with one touchdown.
Receiving wise, Mason Morgan has 11 receptions for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Morgan is a big play threat, averaging 23.2 yards per catch. Jayfred Espinosa leads all Demons with 14 catches. He’s also tallied 130 yards and two scores as well.
Defensively, Jude Carter has a team high 40.5 tackles with 4.5 tackles for a loss. Keider Gomez Valdez has 9.5 tackles for a loss to pace the Demons. Brady Krantz comes in with four sacks.
For Washington, Zach Newton has thrown for 210 yards and one touchdown. Cooper Coleman also has been under center throwing for 141 yards and one score.
On the rushing side of things, Payton Walker has ran for 186 yards and five touchdowns. Coleman follows with 170 yards and two scores as well.
On the receiving end, Avin Truong and Walker each have five catches. Truong has amassed 160 yards and one touchdown in those five catches. He’s averaging 32 yards a catch. Walking enters with 77 yards.
Defensively, Walker has 40.5 tackles with 9.5 tackles for a loss. Both lead the Panthers. Max Sloat follows with 23 total tackles.
