Mt. Pleasant wins EBF boys meet, Fairfield and Cardinal 3rd

EDDYVILLE — A quartet of area boys track teams took part in the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rocket Relays on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield and Pekin all competed in Class A, and Cardinal ran in Class B.
The Mt. Pleasant boys took home some hardware, winning the Class A meet by more than 30 points. The Panthers scored 125 points, 31 better than second-place Mediapolis.
Fairfield scored 85 points to tie for third in the Class A meet. Pekin scored 37, for seventh.
In Class B, Cardinal scored 83 points to take third place alone.
Mt. Pleasant had five wins on the day, two of which went to Cooper Pullis in the throwing events. Pullis won the discus throw with a toss of 129 feet, 3 inches. He won the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 1 inch.
Bryce Wilson won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.07 seconds to give the Panthers a third individual win. They won the shuttle hurdle relay, in 1:09.07, and the distance medley, in 4:01.71.
Fairfield’s lone win was in the 100-meter dash. Aiden Lyons took that event in 11.7 seconds. Pekin did not win an event.
Cardinal’s Griffin Greiner had another huge night, leading the Comets with three wins in Class B competition. Greiner won the 100-meter dash in 11.53 seconds and the 400-meter dash in 52.66 seconds, and added a victory in the field with a winning long jump length of 20 feet, 10 inches.
