Mt. Pleasant XC holds award ceremony
Panthers give recognition to boys and girls for outstanding performances this season

MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant cross-country held its annual awards ceremony on Sunday night.
The Panthers put together the ceremony to honor and give recognition to Panther runners for their performances throughout the season.
On the boys side, Ben Carthey was named this seasons MVP. Jude Dykstra was given the award of newcomer of the year. Gabe Feldman was given the Panther award. Isaac Rynders was this years comeback runner of the year. Most improved was awarded to Ethan Brush.
For the girls, Belle Meador was named the MVP. Jayden Housh was given the Panther award. Ella McNamee was named this years most improved. Emma Welcher is the Panthers newcomer of the year. Audrey Lord was named most improved.
Leading all Panthers this season was Carthey. He was the lone Panther to make the state tournament, finishing in 61st.
Dykstra missed advancing to state by just five spots in the qualifying meet, having to settle for 20th.
Maedor narrowly missed the cut to advance to the state tournament, finishing 25th in the state qualifying meet.
The boys and girls both missed state as a team. They both finished 8th in the qualifying meet.
In the conference meet, the Panthers had a nice showing. Both boys and girls took 4th in the conference.
