The Mt. Pleasant Youth Baseball Association celebrated 60 years of serving the young ballplayers of Henry County during the 2025 Opening Day celebrations last Thursday.
The Association kicked off the summer by introducing the teams and coaches, and also opening the Kiwanis Playground, which was funded for by the local Kiwanis Club, and sits just outside of the fields.
“What an accomplishment,” said Board Director Ryan Duffie. “Baseball is alive and well in Henry County, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth in years to come.”
Duffie says the community has shown overwhelming support for youth baseball in the county, a key to long-term success.
“Volunteer Coaches, Concession Staff and Umpires are easy to come by,” Duffie said. “These people have a passion for helping out and being a part of the organization.”
The Organization also honored longtime member and former Board President Willy Amos, who received a plaque on Opening Day.
“Willy was a longtime board member and president of the Mount Pleasant Youth Baseball Association,” Duffie said. “We are so grateful for your many, many years of service and the invaluable contributions you've made to make the organization. His commitment and dedication was instrumental in the success of youth baseball in Mt. Pleasant, and we are honored to recognize him.”
Along with Duffie, the Mt. Pleasant Youth Baseball Association’s current board members are Dave George, Nate Ensminger, Curt Bjork, Matt Walker, Matt Donnolly and Tim Bolin.
