Mt. Pleasant’s Alec Payne wins SEC bowling title
Panther girls earn runner-up finish, followed by Washington, Fairfield

BURLINGTON — Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield boys and girls bowling hit the lanes on Wednesday afternoon, competing at the Southeast Conference Tournament at KingPin Lanes at FunCity Resort.
Mt. Pleasant had some success on the day. The Panther boys ended with the individual conference champion in Alec Payne, who bowled a 463, which was 15 pins better than Burlington’s Keaton Lair.
Keagan Ellington followed with 408 pins, Titus Reno 381, Xachary LeBlanc 344, Henry Pforts 286 and Conner Sizemore 286.
On the girls’ side, the Panthers notched a runner-up finish as a team, knocking down 2,415 pins.
Addison McGehearty led the Panther girls with 350 pins. Kya Goodrich ended with 338, Madelynn Millard ended with 334, Shyann Smith had 297, Bethany Drury 283 and Natalie Brush 244.
The Washington boys tallied 2,219 pins and the girls 1,007.
Caleb Zieglowsky finished with 447 pins to lead the Demon boys. Kellton Burke followed with 325 pins, Mason Catenaccio had 279, Cooper Zahs 243 and Trevin Sulentich 209.
For the Demon girls, Emma Chenoweth finished with 246 pins. Emma Loeffler tallied 227 and Brittany Diveney 212.
For Fairfield, Ethan Cass bowled a 419 and Dayson Workman a 383 to lead the Trojans.
The Fairfield girls bowled as well, but scores were not available.
Keokuk took the team title on both sides, hitting 2,869 pins on the boys’ side and 2,870 pins on the girls’.
