MUM running club wins Ottumwa race
On a beautiful Saturday morning on May 13, the Maharishi University of Management running club participated in the Southeast Iowa Race for the Cure 5-kilometer run in Ottumwa.
The club won the overall timed team award, which consisted of the cumulative time of the teams Top Five runners.
The club also won seven individual age group awards, one second-place age group award and six third-place age group awards.

On a beautiful Saturday morning on May 13, the Maharishi University of Management running club participated in the Southeast Iowa Race for the Cure 5-kilometer run in Ottumwa.
The club won the overall timed team award, which consisted of the cumulative time of the teams Top Five runners.
The club also won seven individual age group awards, one second-place age group award and six third-place age group awards.
Those who helped win the timed team award were: Vinodthan Nayagar, Peter Mannisi, Mahmood Al-Shameri, Nahom Abegaze, and Vanan Nayagar, with sixth- and seventh-place finishers Virginia Lagunas and Tara De Sanrtis.
This is the seventh time the running club has won the timed team award in the Race for the Cure in Ottumwa.
Individual first place age group plaques were won by (with age group and finishing times listed): Vinodthan Nayagar (25-29) 21:18, Peter Mannisi (70+) 21:31, Gene Gaub (60-64) 25:14, Virginia Lagunas (15-19) 28:14, Tara De Santis (20-24) 28:19, Diana Yamaletdinva (30-34) 25:42, and Pathu Nayagar (50-54) 36:29.
Mahmood Al-Shameri won a second place award (25-29) 23:24. Third-place age group awards were won by: Nahom Abegaze (25-29) 24:12, Vanan Nayagar (50-54) 25:24, Ali Akber (masters division) 29:02, Minoli Nayagar (20-24) 29:54. David Magill (70+) 31:35, and Shane Orne (60-64) 34:35.
Other finishers were: Mariam Daudi in 34:36, and Isabell Jansen. Also participating were Rick Dunstan and Therese Schenosky.
The next event the running club will take part in is the Gothic house 5k on Saturday, June 10.
