COLUMBUS JUNCTION — The fourth night of the 2021 racing season at CJ Speedway had fans on the edge of their seats Friday.
The headliner of the night was the Mincer Ford IMCA stock car feature which as the non-stop feature saw a pack of 10 drivers in the early going trying to battle to the front.
A rare appearance by Dallon Murty showed why he will be battling for a national championship in 2021. Murty started 12th, joined the gaggle of drivers in the charge to the front, then broke out of the pack to overtake Dustin Griffiths as the 20-lap main event passed the midway point. Murty stretched his lead as a battle for second raged.
At the checkers, it was Johnny Spaw in second ahead of David Brandies and Griffiths held on for fourth.
“ I just love coming to CJ because you know the track is always going to be very racy,” Murty said in victory lane. “If you have the right setup you can race to the front.”
Kurt Kile took advantage of an outside front row start in the non-stop Stewart & Sons Fuel IMCA modified feature to lead flag to flag.
Logan Anderson has had a rough go in the early portion of the season but may be a force to be reckoned with after scoring a win from the 10th starting position in the Huston Brothers Trucking IMCA sport modifieds.
Billy Cain led every lap of the Midwest Towing IMCA sport compact feature but won by less than a car length as he was able to hold off a hard-charging Cody Staley.
Daniel Wauters survived an action-packed CJ Auto Parts/NAPA Store IMCA hobby stock main event with plenty of slam-bang action. When the checkers flew, he was ahead of Jake Benischek and Rick VanDusseldorp, who advanced six spots to take third.
Week 5 of more great racing action on Friday starts with hot laps taking to the track at 7:15 p.m.
