New London baseball team fall on the road

DONNELLSON -The New London baseball team had a tough outing on Thursday night in a SEISC South Division game at Central Lee. The Tigers temporarily had a one-run lead in the first inning, but the Hawks scored 13 of the next 14 runs to take the win, 14-3.
New London scored two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead after a Central Lee run in the first. The Hawks scored four runs in the second and seven in the third to go up 12-1.
Central Lee put up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, and New London needed to score two in the fifth to keep the game going. New London was shut out in the fifth and the game ended at five.
New London had just five hits in the loss. Connor Schoenbein finished 1-2 with two RBIs. Ryan Richey was 1-1 with an RBI, and Mason Porter went 1-2 with a double.
Carter Allen started the game and picked up the loss. He gave up 10 runs (five earned) on 10 hits and two walks, while striking out three batters.
New London is now 2-8 on the season. They'll host Wapello tonight (Friday) in an SEISC cross-over game.
