New London baseball tops W-MU at home

NEW LONDON - The New London baseball team took care of business against Winfield-Mt. Union on Thursday night. The Tigers picked up a home win, defeating the Wolves 11-1 in an SEISC crossover.
New London scored one run in the first and one in the second to take an early 2-0 lead. W-MU scored a run in the third, but New London came back with two in their half of the third, four in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to end the game in six innings.
Darius Whaley had a big game, going 3-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Jaxon Hoyle went 1-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Carter Allen went 1-3 with two RBIs, and both Jax Boyer and Kooper Schulte had one RBI.
Whaley threw two perfect innings to get the win. He walked one batter and struck out two. Carter and Jaxon Allen also pitched in the win.
W-MU was led offensively by Jacob Ford. He went 2-3 with a run scored. The Wolves had just two total hits in the game.
Ford did pick up the loss on the mound. He gave up 10 runs (nine earned) on seven hits and six runs, while striking out five. Jared Arnold threw one and one-third innings in the loss.
New London is now 7-10 overall. They'll take on Ft. Madison tonight (Monday) in a nonconference game.
W-MU is 1-19. They'll face Keota tonight in a home doubleheader.
