DANVILLE - The New London baseball team took out some frustration on Wednesday night in Danville. The Tigers rolled the Bears 15-0 in five innings to pick up their first win of the season.
The Tigers scored just one run in the first inning but exploded in the second for eight. That busted the game wide open, and they never looked back.
The Tigers added three runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth. Danville's offense was stifled all five times they went up to bat.
Seth Bailey had a fantastic day at the plate and on the mound. Not only did the freshman go 4-4 with an RBI and three runs at the plate, but he pitched a five-inning shutout, giving up just three hits and striking out four batters to pick up the win.
Darius Whaley had a fantastic day as well. He was 3-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Carter Allen went 1-4 with a bases-clearing double that brought home three runs in the second inning.
Ryan Richey went 1-3 with two RBIs. Jaxon Allen, Kooper Schulte and Mason Porter all knocked in one run.
'We had a little better pitch selection tonight,” said head coach Brad Helmerson after the win. 'We did a better job of hitting the pitches we should hit, where we should hit them.”
The Tigers moved to 1-5 on the year with the win. They'll be at West Burlington tonight (Thursday) for another SEISC South Division game.
