New London boys race past Van Buren

NEW LONDON - It was all New London in the Tiger boys' home game against Van Buren on Friday night. The Tigers dominated from the tip off and took the SEISC South Division matchup, 74-23.
The Tigers used a trifecta of double-digit scorers to take down the Warriors. Grant Swanson led the team with 21 points, six rebounds and five steals.
Blake Porter and Kade Benjamin each went into double digits as well. Porter finished the night with 16 points and six steals, and Kade Benjamin had 13 poitns and seven rebounds.
Demonte Watkins ended the game with eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Devon Swanson had six rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks.
Stats for the Van Buren boys are not available at this point.
The Tigers are now 3-2 overall and in the South Division after two wins to close out 2019. Before beating Van Buren, the Tigers took down Notre Dame on the road.
Van Buren fell 77-71 in a shootout against Lynnville-Sully on Saturday, and are riding a five-game slide into the break. The Warriors are 2-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Both teams will play again on Friday, Jan. 3. New London will travel to No. 6 WACO and Van Buren will host Notre Dame.
