BURLINGTON ? Notre Dame took a big lead early in a 71-20 rout of New London last night, Dec. 20, in the teams? conference matchup.
Going up 40-11 early in the game, the Nikes continued stretching their lead after the half, adding 17 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourh quarter, while holding the Tigers to only nine points in the second half.
Logan Stevens scored a team-high six points for New London and Matayo Christianer added five. Tristan Kadel scored three while Mitch Boles, Shawn Strothman and Justin Hill chipped in two points apiece.
As a team, the Tigers shot 18 percent from the field, a statistic they?ve been struggling with thoroughout the season. They were eight-for-12 from the free-throw line.
New London also gave up 32 turnovers, limiting their own opportunities and affording the Nikes extra chances to score.
The Tigers did pick up six steals in the contest and grabbed 20 rebounds.
Christianer was the rebound leader, grabbing six for the Tigers. Steven and Cameron Watson pulled down three boards, while Kadel, Josh Francis and Hill added two apiece.
Stevens and Strothman each put up a block, and Kadel and Dalton Dudley dished one assist apiece.
The New London boys are 1-6 on the season.
Now the Tigers have a break, and they will start their season up again in the new year. On Jan. 3, the Tiger teams will host Holy Trinity, starting with the girls? game at 6 p.m.
