MARENGO — Four weeks ago, the New London football team was 2-0 with a pair of dominant wins to start its season, but the Tigers are now facing a dim playoff picture after their third-straight loss.
New London was downed in a district road game at Iowa Valley on Friday night. Iowa Valley used a monster first half to run away 68-32.
Iowa Valley led 26-12 after the first quarter, 54-18 at halftime and 68-18 after three.
New London couldn’t contain Iowa Valley quarterback Evan Kearney, who threw for four touchdowns and ran for three more.
The Tigers are now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in district play.
New London, which was formerly ranked in The Gazette high school football poll, has two games left on the schedule, road contests at Lone Tree and Hartwick-Ladora Victor. They’ll need to win both to rekindle any postseason dreams.
