New London girls drop home game

NEW LONDON - The New London girls basketball team couldn't finish off a home win after leading at halftime against Holy Trinity on Tuesday night. The Tigers were outscored by 15 points in the second half and ended up with a 55-43 loss.
Holy Trinity started the game out with a 14-11 lead after the first quarter. New London however, was able to storm back in the second period, scoring a game-high 16 points to grab a 27-24 lead at the break.
New London was outscored in both the third and fourth quarters as Holy Trinity pulled away for a double-digit win.
Despite the loss, Layney Loyd had yet another big game. She went 11-20 from the field for 24 points and also led the team with 14 rebounds
Natalie Burden scored eight points off the bench. She finished 3-4 from the field and 1-2 from three-point land.
Addie Pry and Marah Hartrick finished the night with four points apiece. Ashlyn McSorley had three points on 1-1 shooting from down town, and also led the team with four steals.
New London is now 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the SEISC South Division. They'll host Lone Tre ein a crossover game on Thursday, Dec. 12.
