New London golf sweeps in Winfield

WINFIELD — New London was a double-winner at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield on Friday. The Tigers scooped up a 366-399 victory over hosting Winfield-Mount Union on the boys’ side, and the New London girls shot a 395 to beat out WMU (471) and Van Buren County (485).
Mason Shelley paced the Tiger boys to victory with an 75. Teammate Wyatt Miller finished out at 89. Ethan Streeter shot 94, and Weston Miller rounded out the scorers with a 98.
Coen Fitzpatrick was the fifth New London score, finishing at 112. Sully Barron shot 143.
WMU’s Carter Loyd put up an 89 in the loss. Andrew Brown shot 94. Nick Crow ended at 102. Griffin Humphreys shot 114. Isaac Schurr finished at 121, and Tucker Richardson ended at 146.
Taylor Phillips and Sophie Mallot dominated for the New London girls, shooting 88 apiece to lead the way. Saige Barron scored a 105. Emma Nye shot 114. Emma Busby ended at 119, and Stevie Wintermeyer shot a 156.
WMU edged Van Buren County with the help of three scores under 120. Isabel Kann led the way with a 115. Afton Wilkerson shot a 116, and Ava Hagge finished at 118.
Alli Humphreys and Lily Freeman both finished the meet with a 122 to tie for the fourth WMU score. Chloe Fisher ended at 142.
Van Buren County’s Zoe Best scored a 118 on the day. Kaley Duncan finished at 119. Jasmine Padget scored 123. Georgia Padger finished at 125. Baily Page ended her day at 129, and Emma Char shot 142.
