New London golf wins SEISC title
Shelledy’s 3rd-place finish helps Tigers sneak past Notre Dame

FORT MADISON — The 2022 Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys golf tournament was a battle to the bitter end on Wednesday, but it was the New London Tigers who stood tall when the final scores were read.
Just 13 strokes separated the Top-4 teams in the Super Conference. New London shot 349, nipping Notre Dame by just three strokes.
Mason Shelledy was New London’s top golfer, taking third place overall. The Tiger junior came up clutch with an 83.
Wyatt Miller and Weston Miller both ended the day at 87 for the Tigers. Ethan Streeter shot 92 to round out the scorers. Dawson Goetz finished at 98, and Coen Fitzpatrick shot 108.
Van Buren County fell short of defending their SEC team title, but the Warriors did finish third, with a 361.
T.J. Jirak shot an 85 for fourth place overall. Riley Bruckman finished at 89. Anthony Duncan shot 91. Lukas McEntee and Dylan Richardson finished at 96 each, and Aidan McEntee shot 105.
Winfield-Mount Union finished sixth place, shooting 376. Carter Loyd led the team with an 88, the lone Wolf under 90.
Andrew Brown shot a 95 for the Wolves. Jake Edwards finished at 96. Nick Crow finished at 97. Isaac Schurr finished at 109, and Griffin Humphreys shot 110.
Hillcrest Academy finished seven strokes behind WMU for a seventh-place 383. The top Raven on the day was Lian Schrock, who shot 88.
Jace Rempel and Luke Schrock each finished at 95 for the Ravens. Alex Niemeyer ended the day at 105, and Josiah Beachy closed out the day at 110.
Highland’s Chase Schultz had a huge day, shooting 84 for fourth-place overall. He led the Huskies to a 389 overall score, for eighth.
Peyton Yeggy was the only other Highland player to shoot in double digits, putting up a 99. Trevor McFarland nad Colton Sypherd each shot 103. Kaige Vonnahme finished at 106, and Luke Miller shot 113.
Columbus Community took 10th overall, with a 437. The Wildcats had two players under 100. Robert Coil shot a 95, and Cole Storm finished at 99.
Grant Watson was the third-best Columbus player, shooting 116. Ryan Coil finished at 127, and Mason Heck shot 158.
