New London hosts Chris Selby Track Invitational
Tigers host boys and girls SEISC teams

NEW LONDON — The New London boys and girls track and field teams hosted their own Chris Selby Track Invitational on Tuesday night.
While the Tigers didn’t win the team title on either side, it was still a nice home showing for New London.
Mediapolis, West Burlington, Danville, Louisa-Muscatine and Wapello all took part in the invitational as well.
The New London boys finished fifth in the meet with 58 total points.
Mediapolis won the boys’ team title with 172 total points.
On the girls’ side, Danville took the victory followed by West Burlington-Notre Dame.
The Tigers had just three total winners on the day, two for the boys and one for the girls.
Rylan Martin kept a steady pace as he clocked 4:38.07 for the top time in the 1600-meter.
Kade Benjamin was a winner in the high jump as well. Benjamin cleared 6’6 for the event win.
In the 100-meter dash, Boden Pickle finished fourth with a time of 11.44 and London Franklin followed close behind with a sprint of 11.93.
The Tiger’s Cale Westerbeck ran a 1:01.21 in the 400-meter hurdles. That was good enough for fourth.
Tiane Cam finished fifth for New London in the 200-meter with a time of 25.38.
Cauy Garrett finished fifth as well in the 400-meter dash. Garrett ran 56.00 flat for the spot.
In the 800-meter sprint medley, the Tigers took fifth with a time of 2:15.41.
For the Tiger girls, Tysann Gipple was the victor in the high jump after leaping 4’6.
The next highest medalists for the Tigers was Brooklyn Curry with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Kaitlyn Lee followed with a fourth-place finish in the discus. Lee three 83-01 for the spot.
Naomi Haynes picked up a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash after running 14.91.
The Tigers 4x100 of Liberty Henderson, Izzi Dusenberry, Ines Veschembes, Miah Phillips and 4x200 of Tysann Gipple, Ines Veschembes, Naomi Haynes, Kennedy Herrick both took fourth with times of 1:06.75 and 2:08.40.
In the 4x400, Gipple, Morgan Jones, Curry and Herrick took fourth as well, finishing in a time of 4:49.68.
With a time of 1:27.06, the 4x100 meter shuttle hurdle team of Curry, Haynes, Jones, Reeves Jacobs took fourth.
Both the sprint and distance medley squads finished fifth overall. Those squad were made up of Liberty Henderson, Phillips, Veschembes and Kennedy Herrick; Jacobs, Curry, Gipple and Jones.
